We typically recommend IV sedation when more invasive procedures are needed, but it is available to all patients who simply want to benefit from a quicker, easier and more comfortable appointment.
Why is IV Sedation needed?
You may require IV sedation if you're going to have more invasive or complicated surgery done in our office. For example, if you are going to have multiple implants placed at the same time, we may recommend IV sedation. Likewise, you may request IV sedation if you are nervous about your appointment.
Who is a good candidate for IV Sedation?
You must be healthy enough to undergo sedation. At your consultation appointment, the doctors will review your health history along with any medications you are taking prior to recommending IV sedation. Sedation is customized to each patient, making it a safe and effective option for those who need to have periodontal treatment or surgery.
What can you expect with IV Sedation?
The first step is consulting with us to determine the best type of sedation for your needs. You will then come in and receive the sedation of your choosing. This will put you into a more comfortable state while the treatment is started. It is important that you have someone who can drive you home from your appointment after recovering from sedation. After your procedure, you’ll recover from the effects of sedation quickly and comfortably, and we will escort you to your car and designated driver.
