Smile Makeovers
What is a Smile Enhancement?
A smile enhancement is performed on patients who have a “gummy” or uneven smile. You may feel as though you have too much gum tissue that takes away from the beauty of your natural smile. The smile enhancement works to correct the gum line of your smile and can be performed on one or several teeth. We are able to provide this to patients of varying needs and who are looking to transform the way that their smile looks.
Why is a Smile Enhancement needed?
Most often, a smile enhancement is needed or wanted because a patient has a gummy smile. This occurs when too much gum tissue is present, covering the teeth and causing them to look short. You may even have an uneven gum line where certain teeth look longer or shorter than others. Smile enhancements are cosmetic in nature, so they are completely elective and the need for the procedure can be determined with a consultation.
What makes you a good candidate for a Smile Enhancement?
Most of our patients who are unhappy with the way that their smile looks are eligible for smile enhancement. The procedure is relatively noninvasive and works wonders at correcting gum issues. Excess gum can be removed or added in certain areas. This helps to create a more even-looking gum line that improves the overall look of your smile.
What can be expected during the Smile Enhancement procedure?
To begin, you’ll come in for a consultation with our doctors. We will help to determine if a smile enhancement is needed and can help in creating a personalized treatment plan. You will then come into our office for smile enhancement surgery. This may involve either removing excess gum tissue and exposing more tooth surface or adding gum tissue in areas where recession has occurred. You will be given aftercare instructions on how to promote healing of the surgical site. We are here to answer any questions that you have regarding this procedure.
